The Endwell Fire Organization

Endwell Fire District Map

The Endwell Fire Organization is located in the community of Endwell, New York, in Broome County, and in the Town of Union. It is about 10 miles west of Binghamton, just off of New York State Route 17 / Interstate 86 at Exit 69.

This is primarily a suburban community with some businesses and industries located between the villages of Endicott and Johnson City. Our organization is actually made up of three separate, yet related organizations; the fire district, fire department, and the fire company.

Endwell Fire District

The Fire District was organized in 1923, as a municipal fire district, for the purpose of providing fire protection. The authority for the organization and operation of the Endwell Fire District is set forth in the Town Law in the State of New York.

The Endwell Fire District is organized to save lives, suppress and control fires, provide basic / support emergency medical services, fire prevention education, hazardous materials response, water/ice rescue, public assistance during natural emergencies, and other activities as deemed to be in the best interest of the fire department, business, and residents of the fire district.

It provides fire protection to the district thru the members of the O.L. Davis Fire Company. Active membership is divided into interior and exterior firefighters and fire police.

The total active membership is set at a number determined by the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Endwell Fire District.

About Endwell Fire District

Even though the Fire Company is entirely volunteer, the Fire District is effectively their “employer” and is responsible for

  • providing and maintaining facilities and equipment
  • overseeing district and company operations
  • developing and maintaining an annual budget
  • setting and administering the policies

A five-member Board of Fire Commissioners is elected by the voters of the Fire District to staggered 5-year terms. They serve without pay and are responsible for setting the budget, and the tax rate and making decisions on purchasing and district policy.

Endwell Fire Department

The volunteer firefighters from the O. L. Davis fire company use trucks and equipment provided by the Endwell Fire District together form the Endwell Fire Department. They serve the 12,000+ residents of Endwell over a 7 square mile area responding from three stations - #1 on Country Club Road (central), #2 at Davis Ave. (south side), and #3 on Chrysler Road (north side). O. L. Davis Fire Company

The members of the O. L. Davis Fire Company are the volunteer firefighters who respond to the calls for the Endwell Fire Department. Established in 1921, the fire company has long standing tradition of service to the community. The fire company has its own officers and raises its own funds for the benefit of the firefighters.
